Word Rangers – Category Shop Policy

The Category Shop is a feature within Word Rangers that allows users to publish custom word-search categories for other players to discover and import. This document explains how the shop works, what data is collected, and the rules all participants must follow.

By submitting a category to the Category Shop, you agree to this policy and to the Category Sharing Policy.

1. What the Category Shop Is

2. Submitting a Category

When you submit a category to the shop:

  1. The category enters a moderation queue.
  2. Automated checks are applied for prohibited content.
  3. A human moderator reviews the category before it goes live.
  4. You will receive a notification when your category is approved or rejected.
  5. Rejected submissions include a reason, and you may revise and resubmit.

Categories that pass moderation will appear in the shop under the language you specified during creation. The language is detected automatically when you create your category but can be overridden at any time in the category editor.

3. Your Identity in the Shop

When submitting a category, you choose how to be credited:

3.1 Anonymous Sharing

Your listing appears as "by Anonymous". No name or identifier is publicly associated with your category. This is the default option.

3.2 Sharing with Your Game Center Display Name

If you are signed in to Apple Game Center, you may choose to share with your Game Center display name. By selecting this option, you explicitly consent to:

We never expose your underlying Game Center player ID. Only the user-visible display name you authorise is stored.

3.3 Changing Your Identity

You can choose a different identity each time you submit. If you delete your data using the in-app "Delete My Data" feature, your display name will be automatically removed from all your listings.

4. Coin Economy

4.1 Import Costs

Importing a category from the shop costs coins:

The coin cost is shown clearly before you confirm an import. You will not be charged if you leave the detail screen without importing.

4.2 Creator Earnings

Each time another user imports your category, you earn the same number of coins they paid. Earnings are credited to your coin balance automatically. You will not earn coins if you import your own category.

4.3 Coin Validity

Coins are in-game currency with no monetary value. They cannot be transferred, withdrawn, or exchanged for real money. Coins may be used to unlock features, purchase hints, or access premium content within Word Rangers.

5. Ratings

Users can rate Category Shop listings on a scale of 1–5 stars:

Your ratings are deleted automatically when you use the in-app "Delete My Data" feature.

6. Favourite Contributors

You can mark contributors as favourites. Listings from favourited contributors appear at the top of your shop view. This preference is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to us or shared with other users.

8. Content Standards

All categories submitted to the shop must comply with the Category Sharing Policy. The same content standards apply: no harassment, hate speech, explicit content, violence, illegal content, personal data, profanity, or impersonation.

The Category Shop has stricter enforcement than link sharing because submitted categories are public to all users of the app. Categories that may be borderline for link sharing may be rejected from the shop.

9. Enforcement and Removal

We may remove a Category Shop listing at any time if it violates this policy or the Category Sharing Policy. Removal does not automatically delete imported copies from users who have already imported the category. Creators whose listings are removed for policy violations will not receive coin earnings from imports after the removal date.

Repeated violations may result in suspension of your ability to submit to the Category Shop.

10. Data Deletion and Your Listings

If you use the in-app "Delete My Data" feature:
